Support The Talent

Keep an eye on your mailbox: the 2013 – 2014 Support the Talent campaign launches in late October. Annual contributions to the campaign provide scholarships and awards to current SVA students in all majors, helping them produce high-quality thesis projects and giving them the competitive edge they need as they prepare to embark on careers in the arts. Fall 2013 Distinguished Alumnus Lecture

The SVA Alumni Society presents the Fall 2013 Distinguished Alumnus Lecture with Deborah Adler (MFA 2002 Design), principal of Adler Design. Formerly senior designer for Milton Glaser, the designer and entrepreneur will discuss her work, her background and her professional goal of making people’s lives easier and safer. Adler’s acclaimed ClearRx prescription packaging system was inspired by her thesis project at SVA and developed in partnership with Target. She has been featured in such publications and programs as Glamour, NBC Nightly News and New York, and her work is in the permanent collection of The Museum of Modern Art, New York.

A panel discussion featuring comics all-stars Scott Snyder (American Vampire,The Wake, Batman), Sean Murphy (Aamerican Vampire, The Wake, Punk Rock Jesus), Rafael Albuquerque (American Vampire, Uncanny X-Force), MFA Visual Narrative Chair Nathan Fox (Dogs of War, DMZ), Mark Doyle (DC Comics/Vertigo) and moderator Phil Jimenez (Wonder Woman, X-Men). The panelists talk about their careers, creative process and collaborations, as well as what inspires and informs their approach to telling tales of horror in the realm of graphic novels and sequential art.
