HOW Design Live Features “Underground Images: School of Visual Arts Subway Posters, 1947 to Present” and a Discount for SVA Alumni

SVA Alumni attending HOW Design Live are eligible to receive a $50 discount for all registration types using code HDLSVA. Also, don’t miss “Underground Images: School of Visual Arts Subway Posters, 1947 to the Present.”

Over six decades ago, SVA took to the platforms of New York City’s subway with advertising posters that were both thought-provoking and eye-catching, featuring the work of legendary artists like Ivan Chermayeff, Milton Glaser and George Tscherny. All practicing professionals on the faculty at SVA, they used the poster commission to explore what it means to be an artist and hone their own artistic voice. This month, more than 50 posters chosen by SVA Executive Vice President Anthony P. Rhodes, who has been creative director for the posters since 2007, go on view in Boston at HOW Design Live, the year’s biggest gathering of creative professionals. “Underground Images” will be on the plaza level of Hynes Convention Center, Pre-Function Hall A and B, from Monday May 12th to Friday May 16th. If the conference isn’t on your agenda, @SVA_News will also be live-tweeting keynote talks by faculty members Paola Antonelli, Debbie Millman and Stefan Sagmeister, among others, using the hashtag #SVAxHOW.
