Welcome to the SVA Class of 2014
The day’s keynote speaker and honorary degree recipient was civil rights leader, winner of the Presidential Medal of Freedom (the country’s highest civilian honor) and longtime U.S. Congressman (D-GA) John Lewis. The evening before commencement, Congressman Lewis also attended a special reception hosted by Alumni Affairs in honor of students graduating with honors and accolades and receiving commencement awards. He was joined by alumnus Nate Powell (BFA 2000 Cartooning), who is illustrating March, Lewis’ three-volume graphic novel memoirs. Together with co-author Andrew Aydin, the three signed copies of their book as a gift to reception guests. Congratulations to the SVA class of 2014. Pictures from the Pre-Commencement Reception can be viewed on the SVA Alumni Affairs Flickr stream.
