SVA Building Connections in San Francisco

SVA faculty and staff met with alumni who work at Pixar during their trip to the San Francisco Bay area

In November, a team of SVA faculty and staff traveled to San Francisco to host an alumni reception and meet with alumni and industry contacts. The reception was a great success, with over 40 alumni and creative industry professionals in attendance. Through hosting alumni events and conducting outreach, SVA continues to increase its presence on the West Coast, generating new industry connections, maintaining connections with employers with whom SVA has longstanding relationships and gaining valuable insights into the job market for future graduates.

Arts Abroad 2014: Southern France and More

Photography Workshop in Southern France, Image by Toni-Ann Accardi

This spring, Arts Abroad will host programs in art history and photography in the south of France. Participants can take one or both programs and can earn up to 6 credits. In the photography workshop, students will revel in the unique charms of Provence as they photograph the spectacular sights. The primary goal of the program is to articulate a coherent photographic dialogue with the culture and beauty of southern France, combining personal vision and refined image-making. The program in art history immerses participants in the grandeur of Provence through an on-site study of Roman ruins, Romanesque architecture and works by Van Gogh and Cézanne, among others. Further information on these and other Arts Abroad programs can be found at artsabroad.sva.edu.
