A Panel Discussion

Please join the Office of Alumni Affairs for a Post-Sandy panel discussion on the relief effort and artists' response to the storm. Charles H. Traub, chair of the MFA Photography, Video and Related Media Department, will moderate the talk.

Alumnus John Mattiuzzi (MFA 2012 Computer Art) will discuss his video Frankenstorm. Here he captured the human and emotional impact of the storm from Brooklyn. Alumnus Jessica Rionero (BFA 2010 Film and Video) from BeGracious.com, and founder Chelsea Marino, will describe their non-profit's mission to raise money for the purpose of re-building people's homes. Dena Muller, director of new initiatives at the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) will explain the impact the storm has had on the wider community as well as the art world, and what steps NYFA is taking to provide assistance.

Miami Project Art Fair December 4 - 9, 2012

SVA hosted a popular booth at the inaugural Miami Project, a satellite fair to Art Basel Miami Beach featuring contemporary art in all media, and presented with support from The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) North Miami. SVA's Visual Arts Gallery was among an international lineup of 65 galleries selected based on the strength and relevance of their programs. Nine recent graduates were selected to participate: Ryan Brady (BFA 2012 Visual and Critical Studies), Jeremy August Haik (MFA 2012 Photography, Video and Related Media), Eli Halpern (MFA 2012 Fine Arts), Eric Mistretta (MFA 2012 Fine Arts), Augustus Nazzaro (MFA 2012 Fine Arts, BFA 2007 Fine Arts), Peter Neu (MFA 2012 Fine Arts), Lorelei Ramirez (BFA 2012 Fine Arts), Pacifico Silano (MFA 2012 Photography, Video and Related Media) and Rebecca Ward (MFA 2012 Fine Arts).
