SVA/Indiegogo Partnership


SVA has begun a new partnership with crowdfunding service Indiegogo. With our partnership page, you can place your projects online for funding and receive a discounted campaign fee of 3% (normally 9%) for all projects that meet their goal, or 6.75% for those projects that don’t.  

To take advantage of this discount, sign up using the SVA partnership page and follow the link in the “more info” tab.

Tax Strategies for Artists

This workshop with CPA and attorney Michael Goldberg focuses on tax planning and compliance issues for freelancers and artists to consider. Topics include choice of business entity (corporation, LLC, sole proprietorship), worker classification (employee vs. independent contractor), filing requirements, tax deductions, expense deductions for home office and equipment purchases, IRS recordkeeping requirements, sales tax considerations relating to sales of artwork, and more. Michael Goldberg is a tax partner in a CPA firm and has been the tax accountant for SVA for many years.

The SVA Alumni Society presents the distinguished alumnus lecture with Seth Gollub (BFA 2005 Computer Art). Since graduating, Seth has been with the visual effects company Framestore, where he has worked on projects including the "Geico Gecko" and spots for Coke, Pepsi, FedEx, GE, Dodge and EA, among others. In 2005 he was part of the team that won a Visual Effects Society Award for outstanding character animation in a commercial, music video or television broadcast, for Geico’s “Chat.”
